15 MARCH 44BC. On the Ides of March, Julius Caesar entered the Senate. There he was stabbed to death by around forty senators, members of the ruling class and paragons of education and intellect in the society of Ancient Rome. Only twenty-one names of these conspirators, self-styled as “The Liberators”, survive history and nearly all of them staunchly defended the so-called sancitity of the Republic threatened, allegedly, by the quick rise to tyrannical power of Julius Caesar. However, the death of the “tyrant” had also led to the end of the Republic for which he was killed. Civil war broke out, with Mark Antony on one side and Octavian, Caesar’s legal heir, on the other. Eventually, Mark Antony fled to Egypt, where he would be defeated by Octavian. Octavian became Augustus, the first Emperor and founder of the Roman Empire, and ushered in the era of Pax Romana.

Te capita che vedi dii manifesti strappati a casaccio su un muro mentre magari stai a aspettà l’auto e te sei scordato l’aipodde e pè noia te metti a guardà sti postere. J’è capitato pure a Rotella, e siccome lui è n’artista jè venuta come n’illuminazzione e cià fatto dii quadri. E se chiameno decollage perché ner collage attacchi ner decollage strappi. Si vòi, ce pò pure sta ‘n significato che tipo ‘a civirtà diimmaggine è sottile, superficiale come ‘n manifesto, che abbasta che piove o passa ‘n regazzino coo strappa, e via, st’immaggine se rovina co un gnente. Ma ‘a cosa più ‘mportante è che tra li manifesti strappati pe strada e quelli de Rotella nun ce sta tanta differenza: se ‘a differenza ce sta, nun è de come sò fatti, ma de come sò visti. Se te vedi li postere strappati aa fermata dell’auto nun ce fai caso, se ‘nvece vedi ‘n decollage de Rotella a un museo ‘o guardi pe trovacce quarcosa. Perché ner museo ce sta l’arte.
